We raised a total of $70,583 in our EOFY tax appeal for Youngcare to support their At Home Care Grants (AHCG) and Home Support Grants.

The average AHCG amount is $5,868, so through this donation, AMA Queensland will directly impact the lives of 12 people and their families and extended network.

Youngcare's At Home Support Grants help real people like Dan

A talented sportsman, a teacher-aid, a music & comedy lover and an engaging member of our community – these are all ways in which you would describe Dan.

At the young age of 18, Dan was in an accident that resulted in C6 Quadriplegia. This spinal injury left him paralysed from the chest down and forced to adapt to drastically different circumstances and live with a disability.

While his family had adjusted and adapted to supporting Dan’s injury, as he grew up it became vital for him to search for independent living. The strain of living in such close proximity had begun impacting his relationship with his parents, so he knew it was time to take matters into his own hands. With his sister and his niece living nearby, and his parents making plans to eventually relocate to Southeast Queensland, Brisbane was the place to be.

With Youngcare’s help, the transition to living independently was incredibly smooth. Youngcare were able to ease the financial burden of relocating and give Dan the support he needed through an At Home Support Grant.

Providing this grant to people like Dan would not be possible without the generous donors to our End of Financial Year Tax Appeal.

As a young man with a bright future ahead of him, Dan approaches life with an open mind and a willingness to share his story and educate people on what it is like to live with a disability.

Donate now so we can continue to provide people like Dan the independence and support they deserve.
